Operations Manager
About Slate
Slate is the workspace for modern product teams. We bring planning, documentation, and delivery into one calm place, with an intelligence layer called Atlas that understands the full state of your work and surfaces what matters before you ask. Teams use Slate to think, write, and ship together without the work scattering across a dozen tools.
About the Role
We're looking for an Operations Manager to keep Slate running smoothly as we grow. This is a role for someone who sees the gaps before they become problems and quietly builds the systems that let everyone else move faster. You'll work across the company, from finance and hiring to tools and internal process, turning the messy parts of a scaling startup into something calm and well run.
You'll work in an async, globally distributed team, with regular time alongside the team from our hub in Europe. We trust you to spot what needs fixing and to own it without waiting to be asked.
What you'll be responsible for
Build and improve the internal systems and processes that keep a distributed company running, from operations to tooling.
Own the day to day of areas like finance operations, vendor management, and team logistics, keeping them organized and reliable.
Support hiring and onboarding, making sure new people have a smooth start wherever they are in the world.
Plan and coordinate company moments like our annual off-sites, handling the details so they feel effortless.
Identify friction across the company and drive the fixes forward, contributing your own judgment on what to prioritize.
Keep our operations calm and scalable with structure before things start to strain.
You might be a good fit if you
Have several years of experience in operations, ideally at a startup or fast moving company where you wore several hats.
Are highly organized and self directed, with a track record of building order out of ambiguity.
Can move between the strategic and the hands on, comfortable both setting up a process and doing the work it takes to run it.
Communicate clearly and keep people aligned across functions and time zones.
Use AI tools in your daily work to research, organize, and move faster.
Are happy working async and independently in a distributed team, and you write clearly to keep others in sync.
Move fast without sacrificing care, and you know which details actually matter.
